i posted on another thread about a couple of my experiences of meeting the governing body while i was in brooklyn.
i wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences along these same lines.
i met most of the ones that were current during the 2001-2003 years.
Fed up - I suspect GB for Cook.
lohengren - He's a black man with an outrageous sense of humor. The friends love him for it. Most do. His normalness destroys the perception of the higher uppers, who want to be looked at a certain way. He's aware of how he's perceived. He's not reserved in public. He is who he is. And it seems like they try to keep him quiet...
So he sees the crap in the org, and is NOT afraid to be honest and up front about it. But you put too much of that in front of the friends, spells trouble.
They limit his overall air-time, and I think he's ok with it. He's too humble when it comes to obedience to the ORG.
i really do not understand how any can be athiests from thinking real hard about it.
how can you think everything on this earth just happened?.
from my understanding, to be athiest, this is pretty much how it goes.
We should all just eat, drink, be merry, get married and take no note.
the watchtower society cq jehovah's witnesses has always had an amateur leadership.
do you agree with me, that this will become the biggest problem of the jw believe?
.
Leadership who haven't had to deal with real world in YEARS. Usually, they are traveling elders then Bethelites before GB.
So they are detached. When's the last time they had to worry about basic things, such as FOOD?
They are the few who "made it" under previous regimes, so they see no problem with the system. They perpetuate until it smacks them in the face, then they are ready to change.

It will be interesting to see who is appointed in the future. One brother I know well was "annointed" at Wallkill, while sitting at this desk, three or four years ago. He was in his early 50's at the time.
This is probabaly covered somewhere else, but, it really makes me wonder what actually happens to these men when they are "annointed". The brother at Wallkill is a hardworking, seemingly normal, married guy. A company man through and through, but reasonable, dry sense of humor. Very academic when it comes to "theocratic" things. What I'm getting at is that he didn't seem to be mentally/emotionally unbalanced or anything and certainly not the type to seek glory. It's just strange.
Ken Cook. I suspected him in an earlier thread. I'd give him 4 years from now, he will be up top.

Met all current members, except new guy.
Splane, Lett, Jackson, Pierce, and Morris were just greets and small talk.
Herd - Cool brother! Very intelligent and hilarious! I know him personally. Very honest about himself. (Notice how in any video he's in, he's always narrating, never "teaching". Even in the JW history DVDs just released, he doesn't have a speaking part like the rest of GB). Coincidence? Nope. And he's aware....
Loesch - One day in dining room in Wallkill, he smiled at me and gave me a bro-hug. Asked how I was and such. He thought I was someone else. LOL. We chatted it up, and he invited me to each lunch since I reminded him so much of another brother. That was a running joke between us since... No exagerration, he is dubbed a human encyclopaedia.
I still cherish the memories. They were all great brothers to me. I'm still baffled...

Donny - I live as an atheist but I cannot say for sure if there is anything beyond the physical realm
I have a similar mentality, but on the polar end lol. I do believe in an intelligent designer that perhaps kick started this planet we inhabit. But its hard to prove 100 percent that there is a God or not.
We are barely beginning to understand the physical realm around us, how can anyone say for sure what else is out there? I haven't been anywhere to say "There is definitely a God!", but neither can I say "I've been to the spiritual realm and there definitely nothing there! Proceed with your lives!"
I may be wrong. I understand that may very well be the case. I'm not dogmatic. It's just what I believe right now. It could change tomorrow. Or a year. Or never. Whatever.
Now if anyone wants to argue if that Creator is LOVING.......

poopsiecakes & phizzy said: Live a good life and do everything possible to help others live a good life, too. That's what it's all about.
I agree.
If you believe in God, then you'll get your reward.
If you don't, then making life better for yourself and others because this is all we have is a good choice too.
Jus my opinion.
this is a truly awesome video, with a lovely overall presentation, that uses watchtower literature to explain how the expectations of russell and his followers regarding 1914 differ significantly from what is portrayed in modern publications.. if you're visiting this forum for the first time, please watch it!.

cedars.
That was excellent!
One thing I noted though. At 2:38 he stated the Governing Body was teaching the "last days having started in 1799" up until 1928. There was no GB in 1928. Rutherford was president and he ran the organization exclusively. GB offically begun in 1975/6.
here is the society's view towards suicide:.
what viewpoint does gods word indicate that christians should have toward suicide?.
jehovah as the source of life has decreed that human life is precious, sacred.
BB - I see....
There is was a brother who committed suicide recently who had his talk in the KH but viewing at another location. http://www.funeralfinder.com/obituaries/fosbenner-nathan/04-28-2012/
HB - I have known some also. But if Jehovah is so intent that each person views their life so preciously, would not the refusal of blood mean a person it taking their own life?
